Main jobs involved with digital marketing include communicating your marketing strategy to a team of developers or designers who have a responsibility for incorporating your recommendations, therefore a basic knowledge of HTML and graphic design would help to stand out as you are showing your own knowledge.

D2 (U24): Explain the importance of etiquette when working on a media production

Etiquette is the customary code of polite behaviour in society or among members of a particular profession or group. Within the media industry, Etiquette is important as it allows workers to make sure they are being respectful and reasonable within a working environment by listening and taking on ideas not only for themselves, but listening and allowing people to make their personal ideas grow.

It is important for working alongside people to reach personal success as you are being polite to others around you. For example, as a digital marketer, etiquette will allow workers to reach their success by fuelling off peoples ideas and allowing them to take on other ideas from others in their workplace. Etiquette makes people grow to success as they learn the manners for future job roles. Etiquette enables others to complete their job successfully as they will enable themselves for further job opportunities if they are respectful and understanding of the tasks given to them. Etiquette helps a worker move on and complete jobs as they respect the task and are polite to other around them. Without etiquette the person in the job may come across as disrespectful which will prohibit them from doing the job successfully due to the lack of respect for others. Being polite will enable others to complete the production successfully as they will find it easy to work alongside you and may feel confident and comfortable to speak and ask for help or if they are unsure about something. This will help the product all together as it will allow the work environment to be peaceful and enjoyable to work in.

Etiquette enables others around you to appreciate your role in creating a project which makes you motivated to work harder and get the job done. It is extremely important to respect those higher than you (managers) and lower than you (co- workers) on the hierarchy. Respecting both colleagues in high management or doing a more simplistic job than you is helpful in the terms of moving on in a job. For example, those ‘lower’ then you could somehow work harder to be above you which therefore would benefit you in the long run as they will respect you instead of putting your job on the line if you were to not respect them. The respect given to everyone will secure your place in the workplace and make it easier for you to feel secure and happy in your job. Respecting people ‘higher’ then you in managerial roles will allow you to have a high status within your job as they may see this respect and, as a reward, promote you to a higher position in the long run.  Having respect is key to completing a production successfully, if you respect your colleagues they will respect you back which may benefit your performance in the workplace as they may allow you more time to complete a product - resulting in a better final product. Respecting those under you e.g runners/interns will show the workplace that you have a general respectable personality so will treat you in return with respect and may result, again in promotion to a higher status.

In terms of looking into etiquette in a specific job role, such as a digital marketer, the need to be polite is essential in order for fellow work colleagues to enjoy working with them and allow for a good impression to be set towards there boss/ work colleagues. This will enable others to complete the production successfully as it would give them a comfortable environment to work in and therefore allow them to complete successful productions due to the ora of politeness. Digital marketers would need to show respect to others in order to establish relationships and make sure that they are being respectful in a work environment- allowing other to complete the production successfully showing respect to those below them and above them.

There are many roles in digital marketing, so in order to grow and prosper in your field, etiquette will help you as more people in the workplace will value and respect what you add to the team.
